Trojans Cricket is one section within Trojans Club — the largest amateur sports club in Hampshire and one of the most vibrant multi-sport communities in the south of England. With a proud history stretching back generations, Trojans has long been a place where sport is played with passion at every level, from juniors taking their first steps in the game right through to players competing at the highest amateur levels — and the club has a strong tradition of nurturing talent all the way to international representation.
At the heart of the club are four thriving sections — cricket, hockey, rugby and squash — offering competitive and social sport for all ages and abilities throughout the year. Alongside these, the Trojans site is also home to padel tennis, archery and physiotherapy services, making it a truly all-round sporting destination.

Trojans Cricket is one of the most active cricket clubs in Hampshire, running seven senior teams across a range of formats and levels to suit players of every standard.
Our 1st XI compete in the Southern Premier League — the top tier of recreational cricket in central southern England — while our 2nd, 3rd and 4th XIs play across various divisions of the Hampshire Cricket League, ensuring there is always the right level of cricket for every player. On Tuesday evenings, our Border League side take to the field for competitive short-format cricket, currently playing in the Premier Division after winning their division in 2023.
On the women's side, our Southern Stars team play hardball cricket in the Hampshire Cricket League Women's Division — a joint venture with Calmore CC that has gone from strength to strength. For those looking for something a little more relaxed, our W10 team offer soft-ball cricket in the most welcoming environment imaginable. Open to all women and girls aged 12 and above, W10 is played with ten players and ten overs a side — no experience, pads or helmets required. The team enjoy both league fixtures and festivals throughout the summer, and many of our players had never picked up a bat before joining us. Come along and give it a try — you might just surprise yourself!
Our junior section is one of the biggest and most vibrant in the county, welcoming around 180 young cricketers each summer. Starting with All Stars for Reception to Year 2, the section runs all the way through to U17 level, with 12 teams entered into the Serious Cricket Hampshire Junior Championships. We have dedicated girls softball and hardball teams, and we work hard to support our older juniors in making the transition into senior cricket — because we believe that a love of the game should last a lifetime.

Trojans Cricket Club is based at the magnificent Stoneham Lane ground in Eastleigh. The ground is home to an impressive 16 all-grass pitches, providing outstanding playing surfaces for the club's seven senior teams and extensive junior section throughout the summer season.
In 2025, the club opened a brand new outdoor nets facility — two fully enclosed, state-of-the-art practice nets that represent a significant step forward in the quality of coaching and training available to players of all ages and abilities. Whether preparing for a Saturday league fixture or developing the skills of the next generation, the new nets provide a first-class environment to train in all conditions.
The ground is currently in the midst of an exciting period of transformation. The main clubhouse is undergoing a major redevelopment that will deliver eight brand new changing rooms, opening very soon and set to make a real difference to the matchday experience for players across all sections. Looking further ahead, the redevelopment will also deliver a new function room, bar and entrance, creating a social hub that will benefit every member and the wider community for generations to come.
It is a genuinely exciting time to be part of Trojans Cricket Club, and the improvements to the ground reflect the ambition and energy that runs through the whole club. We look forward to welcoming players, families and supporters to enjoy everything Stoneham Lane has to offer.
n addition to the main Stoneham Lane ground, Trojans Cricket Club also makes use of the Hardmoor site, which sits adjacent to the main ground and forms a natural extension of the club's facilities. Hardmoor is home to 9 all-grass pitches, providing excellent playing surfaces that are essential in accommodating the volume of cricket played across the junior section and senior teams throughout the summer season.
The site has its own dedicated pavilion, giving players and supporters everything they need on matchday and making Hardmoor very much a ground in its own right. It is a well-loved venue within the Trojans family and a vital part of what allows the club to run the number of teams and fixtures that it does each season.
Together, Stoneham Lane and Hardmoor give Trojans Cricket Club a combined resource of 25 all-grass pitches across two adjacent sites, each with its own pavilion facilities — an infrastructure that very few amateur clubs in Hampshire can match, and one that the club is rightly proud of.
The Club
Trojans was founded in September 1874 at a meeting held at the Antelope Hotel in Southampton, initially as a rugby club known as Trojans Football Club. H. F. Gibbs was voted the club's first captain, and navy blue and red were chosen as the club colours. It is the oldest rugby club in Hampshire.
Cricket was part of the club's story almost from the very beginning, with members playing the game during the summer months alongside rugby. Over the following decades the club grew considerably, with hockey joining as a major section in the early 1900s and squash following later. The club was originally based in the Polygon area of Southampton, before purchasing playing fields at Stoneham Lane. The clubhouse at Stoneham Lane was gradually expanded, and in the early 1960s the club moved there en masse, establishing the site that remains home to Trojans to this day.
There are now four active sections — rugby, cricket, hockey and squash — covering all ages from under-8s to seniors, and both men and women, boys and girls. During its long and proud history, the Trojans Club has done much to foster amateur sport and has produced many county and international players. Alongside the four main sections, the Stoneham Lane site is also home to padel tennis, archery and physiotherapy, making it one of the most comprehensive amateur sports facilities in the region.
Trojans Cricket Club
Trojans Cricket Club has been an integral part of the wider club since the Victorian era, with records of cricket fixtures at Trojans dating back to the 1930s. The cricket section has grown steadily over the years into one of the most active clubs in Hampshire, now running seven senior teams alongside one of the county's largest junior sections.
The club plays its home cricket at Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh, and competes across multiple formats and leagues throughout the summer — from the Southern Premier League at the top end of the men's game through to ladies' cricket and the ever-growing W10 softball programme. The junior section welcomes around 180 young cricketers each summer, from the ECB's All Stars programme for the youngest children right through to U17 level, with dedicated girls' teams at every stage.
Throughout its history, Trojans Cricket has placed great importance on developing players and giving everyone — regardless of age or ability — a home in the game. That ethos remains as strong today as it has ever been, and the club continues to look ahead with real ambition as it enters its 152nd year.
